Free Windows 10 Upgrade Offer Is Ending Soon
When Microsoft announced the launch of Windows 10 it also announced that during the first year of life of its operating system, users who had an original license of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 could update it for free to Windows 10. Now, if you want to upgrade your old Windows to Windows 10 then upgrade it now, as the offer is ending soon.
When the tech giant Microsoft announced the launch of Windows 10 it also announced that during the first year of life of its operating system, users who had an original license of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 could update it for free to Windows 10 to use it in the new operating system of the company.
When that first term was over, the tech giant Microsoft stopped allowing this free update, except for users who use the accessibility features, which has been used during these more than two years of operating system to update the licenses despite being out of time, however, everything comes to an end, and this “trick†was not going to be less.
We have already talked several times about the possibility of upgrading to Windows 10 for free, taking advantage of the accessibility features of the operating system. Through this function, users who wanted could still update the licenses of their Windows to make them compatible with the new Windows 10 at no cost, including users of Windows 10 S, who could also upgrade for free to Windows 10 S Pro.
During these more than two years, Microsoft has not said anything about this method to update Windows licenses, so we could not say with certainty if the trick would work for a long time or, otherwise, the company would withdraw it.
As we can see in the following link, Microsoft has added one more line to the description of this function indicating that the promotion will end as of December 31st of this year, that is, in about two months. As of January 1, no user who has not updated their licenses to make them compatible with Windows 10 can do so already, not even using Windows accessibility features.
Take advantage of the last days to upgrade for free to Windows 10
As we say, next December 31, the accessibility trick to update Windows 10 for free will no longer work, and all users who have not taken advantage of updating will not be able to do it, even if they use the accessibility features of the operating system.
If you have not yet updated and you want to take advantage of your original license, it is recommended that you do so before this term comes to an end. To do this, all we have to do is access the previous link, download the update tool from there, execute it and follow the simple wizard to complete it.
When we have Windows 10 already installed on our computer, our license key will have changed, and now it will be fully valid for this new operating system. Once the license has been updated, if we have logged into the system with a Microsoft Account, it will be linked to our license key, activating Windows 10 automatically if we reformat and without having to remember or point out the license.
The reasons why Microsoft has decided to remove this feature are not known. Maybe abuse by users? Or maybe it has to do with Windows 10 having just 25% of market share and Windows 7 remains close to 50%, and therefore this is one more attempt for users to upgrade to the new version of Windows, allowing them to maintain their licenses and not force them, in the future, to buy a new one.
So, what do you think about Microsoft’s decision to end the possibility of updating Windows 10 for free from the accessibility features? Simply share your views and thoughts in the comment section below.
