Rugby World Cup fixtures, time, prediction, live scores and result: Australia vs Georgia_1

The Wallabies continue their road to redemption at the Rugby World Cup with a match against gutsy Georgia. Australia’s forward pack is expected to be tested to the limit, but a challenge can be for the better as the 2019 Rugby World Cup quarter-finals draw nearer.

Australia breezed past Uruguay 45-10 in their last game with teenage sensation Jordan Petaia scoring a try on debut. However, the 29-25 loss to Wales will still be lingering on their mind.

Michael Cheika’s men need to keep their wits about them to avoid a repeat against a highly capable Georgia outfit.

Georgia will be trying to prove that they can stand up to another top tier rugby nation having already given a decent account of themselves in the 43-14 defeat to Wales. However, they head into this game off the back of a 45-10 loss to Fiji.

It will be interesting to see what approach Cheika opts for with his team selection. Pick a strong outfit might allow his players to perfect combinations ahead of the knockout stages, but could also cause injuries against a bruising pack.

Whatever team the coach puts out, they will need to reverse a trend of Australia being slow out of the blocks in the early stages of games.

“I thought we were just off the pace a little bit at the start and that’s three times now,” Cheika said after Australia beat Uruguay, as quoted by Stuff.co.nz.

“Three games we’ve been off the pace a little at the start so I don’t know, I’ll have to get my pre-match speech a little bit better.

“Not that we haven’t played well, we’ve sort of just been a little less consistent in the first 20 minutes … it gets you off on the wrong foot. We need to go into games a bit faster.”
