A former Nigerian Ambassador to the U.S., Hamzat Ahmadu (in white) is dead. Mr. Ahmadu, who was also the Walin Sokoto, died at a private hospital in Lagos yesterday at the age of 92.
The deceased served as Personal Secretary to two Nigerian military leaders: Aguiyi Ironsi and Yakubu Gowon. He also served as Nigeriaâ€™s Ambassador to United States of America, Germany, France and the former Soviet Union (USSR).
The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal described him as a peace-loving and committed family man who gave invaluable contributions to the unity and development of Nigeria. May his soul rest in peace.
