A Chief Magistrate of the Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court, has ordered the policemen from the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos to produce the defendants in court today after which they were failed to be presented in court yesterday. The defendants are the Managing Director of Lekki Gardens, Richard Nyong, and a contractor, Odofin Taiwo.

It will be recalled that their matter was heard yesterday and the defendants lawyers had wanted to table their bail matter before the Police informed the court that they were on able to bring the defendants to court because they had information that some hoodlums were planning to attack the court.

The case was then adjourned to Thursday (today), 24th of March by the chief magistrate, ordering the defendants to be produced in court.

It will also be recalled that Nyong and Taiwo were arrested by the police for the collapse of a five-storeyed building in the Lekki area, in which no fewer than 35 people were killed and were arraigned in court on the 11th of March. The police had filed an application for their remand pending the conclusion of investigations.
