Los Angeles (dpa) – Former boxer Floyd Mayweather will pay for the costs of George Floyd's funeral, US media reported on Monday…
"He'll probably get mad at me for saying that, but yes, [Mayweather] is definitely paying for the funeral," ESPN cited Mayweather Promotions chief executive officer Leonard Ellerbe as saying on Monday.
According to the report, the 43-year-old former world champion has offered to pay for the funeral in Houston on June 9, and memorial services in Minnesota and Charlotte, through a mutual acquaintance.
The family has accepted the offer, ESPN reported.
Floyd was killed last week in police custody sparking both peaceful protests and incidents of after-dark rioting that included arson, looting and clashes with police across the US.
