US president, Donald Trump has stated that the coronavirus pandemic which emanated from China has had a more tragic effect on US compared to the 9/11 terror attacks by Al-qaeda and the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor during World War II.
Trump, who has always been critical of China's inability to manage the spread of the deadly disease, has now renewed his criticism of the Asian country, saying the outbreak should have been stopped there.
"We went through the worst attack we've ever had on our country, this is worst attack we've ever had.
"This is worse than Pearl Harbor, this is worse than the World Trade Center. There's never been an attack like this.
"And it should have never happened. Could've been stopped at the source. Could've been stopped in China. It should've been stopped right at the source. And it wasn't," President Trump told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House.
America is the country most affected by the coronavirus pandemic with confirmed cases topping 1.2million and 74,817 death recorded.
Trump has however declared huge economic sanctions would be imposed against China over its handling of the pandemic once it's all over.
