China has pledge to give $30 million to the World Health Organization (WHO), to assist in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. This is coming days after the President of the US, Donald Trump declared his administration would stop funding the health agency.
"The new donation would be in addition to an initial $20million and would help strengthen developing countries' health systems" Foreign ministry spokesman, Geng Shuang revealed.
"China's contribution to the health agency reflects the support and trust of the Chinese government and people for the WHO" Geng added.
The United States, which is the WHO's biggest contributor, accused the organization last week of mismanaging the Coronavirus crisis and announced the would stop funding UN agency. The President of the US, Trump accused the World Health Organization of covering up the seriousness of the Coronavirus outbreak in China.
As at time of reporting global cases has exceeded 2.8 million while fatality cases has topped 197,000.
