COVID-19: Nigerian President Appointed To Lead ECOWAS Battle Again Coronavirus

The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari, has been appointed to lead the battle against the novel coronavirus pandemic in West Africa.

The decision was made at the summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West Africa States.

The summit was convened by the regional leaders to deliberate on the COVID-19 pandemic which is causing a lot of damage to economies and social lifestyle of people around the world.

The Special Adviser to the Nigerian President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, took to social media to disclose the new development.

"The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, leaders at an extraordinary summit held by video conference have appointed President Muhammadu Buhari as the Champion to coordinate the COVID-19 response in the sub-region. All the other Presidents will be available to support President Buhari." He Tweeted.

Coronavirus meanwhile, have continue to cause a lot of damage all over the world, with nations enforcing lockdown which is affecting the economies of nations and the social lifestyle of people.

Confirmed cases of people having the disease globally have topped 2.5 Million while over 175,000 people have died globally as a result of COVID-19.
