Lekgolo school tragedy – two dead, two injured in Limpopo

According to the province’s education MEC, Polly Boshielo, two other learners were inured in the incident and were rushed to the Kgapane Hospital. The school is situated in the Mopani East education district.  The MEC said she was “rushing to the scene”

The school is located in Mamaila village, Sekgosese – a town north-east of Polokwane and just off the R36 where it meets the N1. We have been told that, as well as the two fatalities, there are two children who are seriously injured. Some reports suggest that all four casualties are “from the same family”.

Families “struggling to comprehend” tragic crash

The department’s psycho-social unit had been dispatched to start trauma counselling of learners, educators, support stuff and bereaved families. The school was closed for the day earlier on Wednesday.

Local families and parents rushed to the school to collect their loved ones. Emotions were running high as the caregivers came to terms with the freak accident that caused such a devastating tragedy. It is yet to be established why the lorry veered off the road and slammed into the structure.
