According to timestamps, the incident took place at around 19:30 on Sunday evening. An unknown vehicle could be seen pulling up to a residence with a white Volkswagen Polo parked outside the gates.

The coordinated movement of the suspects suggests that this was a planned hijacking. The armed hijackers had to have known that the victim was going to be parked there at the time.

It is not clear why the vehicle had not gone into the premises but by the time the suspects’ vehicle pulled up behind them, it was too late.

Three suspects could be seen getting out of the car and accosting the victim. No information has surfaced about the number of victims that were in the vehicle at the time.

However, towards the end of the footage, a scuffle between one of the hijackers and a person thought to be the victim could be observed.

The video did not capture any audio so it is not known what was said in the scuffle but the victim, clearly outnumbered and overpowered, could be seen running into the residence, before the Polo was pulled out of the driveway by the suspects.

The stolen vehicle’s registration details are: BM 83BK GP

At this time, the progress of the hijacking incident observed in this video is unknown. Police have yet to issue a statement addressing the incident. Our attempts to get through to the Diepkloof police station were unsuccessful.
