  1. An intense cold front associated with an upper cut-off low pressure system is expected to affect the Western and Northern Cape Provinces as well as the Eastern Cape from Wednesday (30/09/2020) evening into Friday (02/10/2020) morning. The public and small stock farmers are advised that snowfall, strong winds, heavy rain, flooding and very cold conditions can be expected.

  2. Disruptive snowfalls can be expected over the high lying areas of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape on Thursday evening into Friday (01-02/10/2020).[*]Strong S'ly winds are expected in places over the western interior on Thursday (01/10/2020).


Gauteng:


Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers in the north.


The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Mpumalanga:


Temperature: Cloudy in the east with morning fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east.

Limpopo:


Temperature: Cloudy in the east with morning fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in the northern and eastern parts.

North-West Province:


Temperature: Fine and warm, but hot in the extreme north-east.

Free State:


Temperature: Cloudy at first in the northeast with fog patches, otherwise fine and cool to warm.

Northern Cape:


Temperature: Fine and cool to warm but cold in the south with morning frost.


Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly.

Western Cape:


Temperature: Cloudy along the south coast where it will be cool otherwise fine and cool but partly cloudy in the south-west.


Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south to south-westerly but fresh along the west coast.


The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Eastern Cape:


The Western halfTemperature: Cloudy with isolated showers in places along the south coast and adjacent interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool.


The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south westerly.


The Eastern halfTemperature: Cloudy south of the escarpment otherwise fine and cool. Isolated showers and rain are expected along the coast and adjacent interior.


The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh south westerly.

Kwazulu-Natal:


Temperature: Morning fog patches in places over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool but warm in places in the north. Isolated rain and showers are expected but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior.


Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly.


The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
