A 34-year-old man, and a 37-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, assault, ill-treatment and neglect of a one-year-old, according to police…
According to The Sun, toddler Leiland Corkill suffered a serious head injury which ultimately led to his death while allegedly under the care of the arrested couple.
The child initially was placed in the care of the Cumbria County Council in the UK shortly after he was born, and was put up for adoption. His biological mother, however, regularly visited him. At the time that he suffered the fatal injuries, he was allegedly living with a couple who were reportedly interested in adopting Leiland.
His mother and grandmother were by his side in hospital before he succumbed to his injuries.
The pair who were arrested in connection with his death appeared in court, but the case was postponed. They currently cannot be named, and have been released on bail while the police investigation continues.
