Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of three Bidvest Wits players, according to a report by Soccer Laduma.
Several top players at the 2016/17 PSL champions have been up for grabs since the sale of the club's top-flight status, which was announced over the weekend.
Mamelodi Sundowns raid Bidvest Wits' squad
The Tshwane giants have been on the hunt for reinforcements to their own squad and have reportedly done so by securing the services of goalkeeper Ricardo Goss alongside attacking duo, Haashim Domingo and Gift Motupa.
They are the latest additions to the star-studded outfit, which was recently bolstered by the addition of two more players in midfielders, George Maluleka and Grant Margeman, who signed pre-contracts from Kaizer Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town respectively.
The trio is expected to make the move to the defending league champions ahead of the start of the 2021 season.
How the new signings are expected to fit in
Sundowns have been on the market for attacking players, with coach Pitso Mosimane making no bones about the need to bolster his squad up in that department.
This bodes well for Motupa and Domingo, with the latter's versatility perhaps working to his advantage.
Domingo can operate out wide on the right, and has also been used as both a central midfielder and a centre-forward.
Motupa, a proven goal scorer in the local top flight will have some competition for a spot in the line-up from the likes of Jose Ali Meza for the second striker role which has, at times, been filled by Sibusiso Vilakazi and Lebohang Maboe.
For Goss, breaking into the first team could prove difficult in his first few years at Sundowns, with internationals such as Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene ahead in the pecking order, with Bafana shot-stopper Reyaad Pieterse also struggling for game time.
However, at 26, age is somewhat on his side, unlike Onyango and Mweene – both 35 – while Pieterse is reportedly seeking a way out of the club after an unhappy short spell.
