The 2023 Grammy Awards witnessed Kendrick Lamar's impressive performance as he took home the awards for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance. The rapper's daughter, Uzi, reacted to her father's acceptance speech in a touching video shared by Kendrick's wife Whitney Alford. The clip shows Uzi, Kendrick's son, and wife watching the rapper's speech after winning the Best Rap Album award.
"Daddy!" Uzi exclaims as she sees her father on stage. "He's talking about us. He's talking about his family. Uzi and Enoch and Mommy."
In his acceptance speech, Kendrick Lamar thanked his family and fans for the incredible win, which marked his second Best Rap Album Grammy award, following his win in 2018 for "DAMN." He acknowledged the album's creation process was one of the toughest he had experienced and expressed gratitude to his fans for allowing him to share other people's experiences.
"First and foremost, I would like to thank my family for giving me the courage and the vulnerability to share these stories and my truth with this album," Kendrick Lamar said. "I want to thank my fans for trusting me with these words. As artists, we're all entertainers, and we say things to provoke thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Making this record was one of my toughest records to make, and they allowed me to do that and share other people's experiences."
The 65th Grammy Awards also saw Future and Drake win the award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for "Wait for U" and Dr. Dre win the Global Impact Award.
