Rapper Doja Cat has taken legal action after receiving a death threat in a private chat room. According to a TMZ report, Doja Cat filed a police report on Thursday, December 29th after an individual made threatening statements towards her in a private chat. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that a report was filed for criminal threats and that the investigation is still active.
The threat occurred after Doja Cat removed the individual from the chat for behaving strangely. The person, who does not reside in California, allegedly threatened to kill Doja Cat and stated they would see her "soon." Doja Cat's management has not yet commented on the incident.
Doja Cat has faced controversy in the past regarding her involvement in chat rooms. In May 2020, she was accused of hanging out with White Supremacists and using racial slurs. Doja Cat denied these allegations and apologized for any perceived racial remarks she may have made. In a since-deleted Instagram post, Doja Cat wrote, "I've used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn't have been on some of those chat room sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I'm sorry to anyone I offended." She went on to say, "I'm a Black woman. Half of my family is Black from South Africa and I'm very proud of where I come from."
